The client has contacted us as they intend to build a new industrial unit in which they wish to install a new paint shop; within this new area, they plan to set up a shot blasting area as well as a new spray booth for large components.
They have a clear idea of where to position the spray booth on the floor plan, but wish to optimise the interior space by relocating the necessary equipment to an external canopy attached to the unit.
Customer requirements
The client has informed us of their need for a coating application on parts with a high-quality finish, as they manufacture high-precision mechanical components with significant added value and wish for this to be evident in every detail. They consider the finish quality and the application and drying times to be crucial; in their current environment, these processes take a long time without a controlled atmosphere, as ambient humidity is very high, particularly during periods of low temperatures.
As the parts they work with are large and heavy, they have requested access via an overhead crane inside the booth. Furthermore, they wish to have the option of using a trolley for parts of considerable height that are difficult to access with an overhead crane, or where the part’s size or lifting requirements are complicated by any other factor.
Fercabin solution
After analysing the requirements, we began manufacturing a booth measuring 433,07 x 236,22 // 236,22 in., with its air conditioning units located outside the building at two different heights to optimise space. The air flow rates will be high to ensure adequate air exchange, as well as application and drying times suited to our client’s requirements.
In addition, civil works involving three pits are planned, given the variety of parts and volumes to be painted inside; in this way, we can ensure adequate extraction in any possible situation.
Access to the components is meticulously designed, as this ensures our client can make the most of the facility. The unit is fitted with a removable front panel that allows easy access to the trolley. Similarly, a wide top access panel with an electric guillotine closure system provides an airtight seal for a large opening, without in any way compromising the pressurisation system or adequate air flow for any type of work.
Key features of the equipment
- Outdoor air handling units.
- A touchscreen control system for all the equipment’s components, as well as for their control and monitoring.
- Opening system for large overhead cranes
- Trolley access system.
- 1,400 lux of lighting at any point in the cabin
- An efficient energy management system: the equipment is fitted with variable frequency drives and a start-stop efficiency system, as well as an air recirculation system during the drying phase.
